Value Stream Mapping and Theory of Constraints its Role in Enhancing Total Equipment Effectiveness
Abstract
The current study seeks to employ the tools of analyzing and improving industrial processes represented by the Value Stream Map (VSM) and the Theory of Constraints (TOC) with the aim of enhancing the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) in the gasoline production line at the South Refinery/Shuaiba. The case study approach was adopted as the most appropriate to analyze the phenomenon within its realistic context, as the study is based on a field reality that indicates the presence of a decline in operational performance indicators, especially in light of operational bottlenecks and production losses that are not precisely defined.
