Advances in Strategic Change Management for Cloud System Implementation in Enterprises
Abstract
Cloud system implementation has become a transformative strategy for enterprises seeking operational agility, cost efficiency, and scalability. However, the transition to cloud-based infrastructure is not solely a technological endeavor—it requires comprehensive strategic change management to ensure successful adoption and value realization. This paper presents a critical review of recent advances in strategic change management specific to cloud system implementation within enterprise environments. It examines contemporary frameworks, models, and best practices that guide organizations through the complexities of cloud transition while aligning technology with organizational goals. Drawing from academic literature, industry reports, and real-world case studies published between 2015 and 2024, this study identifies key change management components including leadership commitment, stakeholder engagement, communication planning, skill development, risk mitigation, and cultural alignment. The analysis reveals a shift from rigid, top-down approaches to more agile, iterative, and people-centered strategies that promote resilience and adaptability in dynamic IT ecosystems. Notably, modern change management models now integrate cloud-specific concerns such as data security, compliance, system interoperability, and vendor dependency, providing a more holistic roadmap for enterprise transformation. The paper also highlights the growing relevance of digital change agents, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous feedback mechanisms in navigating resistance and fostering employee buy-in. Furthermore, it outlines how enterprises leverage performance metrics, key success indicators, and cloud maturity assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of change initiatives. Strategic alignment between IT and business leadership emerges as a critical success factor, with organizations adopting a co-creation model to jointly shape cloud strategies and change agendas. This review concludes that effective strategic change management is pivotal to unlocking the full potential of cloud systems in enterprises. It calls for the development of adaptive, context-sensitive frameworks that can respond to unique organizational needs and technological disruptions. Future research is encouraged to explore AI-supported change analytics and the integration of real-time sentiment analysis to further refine enterprise change management in cloud settings.
