Abstract

In the competitive and rapidly evolving landscape of startups, data-driven decision-making is a critical determinant of sustainable growth. This paper explores the integration of forecasting models and performance analysis tools—specifically Microsoft Excel and Tableau—in supporting strategic and operational efficiency within growth-oriented startups. The study begins by establishing the conceptual foundations of sales forecasting methods, from traditional techniques such as moving averages and regression analysis to more advanced approaches like ARIMA. It also highlights the role of performance metrics such as customer acquisition cost and churn rate in startup growth tracking. Through empirical case studies, the paper illustrates how startups have effectively employed Excel for structured forecasting and KPI dashboard development, while leveraging Tableau for dynamic, real-time visual analytics. The combined use of these tools offers a scalable, accessible solution for startups aiming to institutionalize business intelligence practices. Despite challenges such as data fragmentation and limited technical capacity, best practices around integration, cross-functional collaboration, and incremental adoption reveal practical strategies for overcoming these barriers. The paper concludes with insights on the contributions to research and practice, and identifies future directions, including the potential of AI-enhanced forecasting and industry-specific applications. This study contributes both theoretical value and pragmatic guidance, reinforcing the pivotal role of accessible analytics in the startup ecosystem.
