Business Process Re-engineering Strategies for Integrating Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems in Large-Scale Organizations
Abstract
The integration of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems with business process re-engineering (BPR) has emerged as a strategic imperative for organizations seeking to enhance operational efficiency, improve decision-making, and achieve long-term competitive advantage. This paper explores the theoretical foundations and strategic imperatives of ERP-enabled BPR, analyzing core principles, implementation challenges, and success factors. A structured framework for ERP integration through BPR is presented, detailing methodologies, process optimization techniques, and organizational change management strategies. Furthermore, the study examines common pitfalls in ERP-enabled re-engineering, risk mitigation approaches, and the balance between standardization and customization. The research highlights best practices for aligning ERP implementation with business objectives and emphasizes the role of continuous process improvement. Finally, the paper identifies future research directions in ERP-driven business transformation, including artificial intelligence-driven process automation, blockchain for enterprise security, and sustainability-focused ERP strategies. By addressing both theoretical and practical dimensions, this study provides valuable insights for organizations, policymakers, and researchers striving for successful ERP adoption and process re-engineering.
