Abstract

This study explores the key success factors (KSFs) that influence strategy implementation in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Kabwe District, Zambia. Using the Resource-Based Theory (RBT) and Dynamic Capabilities Theory (DCT) as theoretical foundations, the research examines the availability of resources, leadership, innovation, and communication within SMEs and their impact on strategy execution. Data collected from 202 SME owners/managers via questionnaires and interviews reveal a significant relationship between KSFs and effective strategy implementation, highlighting areas for improvement in resource allocation and strategic flexibility. The findings emphasize the need for SMEs to foster a culture of innovation and cross-functional collaboration to enhance performance.
